About Ted
Growing up in Florida I got to spend a lot of time in and around the water, fishing in the everglades, canoeing on lakes and rivers, spending time at the beach. The one thing I never tried was scuba diving, the funny thing was I would not try scuba until going to college at Slippery Rock University, in Western Pennsylvania.
But when I got to experience breathing underwater I was hooked. I got certified in 2008 through the Slippery Rock University Skin & Scuba Diving class, and now I have the privilege of assisting in instructing that class each spring. Once I got to experience the underwater world and the freedom it brings have tried to share it with everyone I can.
Since 2018 I have been helping at JT Scuba as a PADI Divemaster, helping John with his classes and in any way, I can. In 2020 I earned his PADI Assistant Instructor certification at Scott’s Scuba and my PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification through Divers Incorporated.
As an independent instructor, I had the opportunity to work alongside John and JT at Scuba. In 2023, JT was moving to the Keys, and I had the chance to take over the shop. We rebranded as Ted’s Scuba Service and are working hard to expand and make diving accessible to as many people as possible with flexible scheduling, local dive sites, and a great staff. I am eager to help anyone who wants to embrace their desire to dive and explore beneath the waves in local quarries, the Great Lakes, and the oceans of the world.
About My Logo
When looking at my logo you might be asking, what is that, or why is it red and white?
The fish in the logo is a Stonecat catfish, a Western PA catfish that are plentiful and can often be seen in our local waters. and that is part of why it is in my logo.
The Logo is Red with a white strip because it represents the Diver Down flag typical in the United States, Canada, throughout the Caribean, and in some other countries.
With my focus on local diving when I was considering what to do for a logo I decided that I wanted to use a fish that we see in the local quarries for the logo. The three main fish were bass, panfish (bluegill and crappie), and catfish. With my love of night dives and the number of catfish you can see then I decided on a catfish.
